One of the main objectives of the Federation is to help the farmers to get reasonable price for their agricultural produce. To help farmers in this regard Marketing Federation undertakes procurement of agricultiural commodities on behalf of the state Goverment under the various schemes.

• Price Support Scheme (Wheat, Rice,  Urad , Arhar, Sarson).

• Joint Venture Scheme (Chana,Sarson,Wheat,soyabean).

• Commercial Purchase (Tuar).

Price Support Scheme:  Government of India announces minimum support price (MSP)for Agro commodities from rabi and kharif crops for procurement by different agencies under the price support scheme(PSS) to sustain and improve the production of these crops by guaranteeing the farmers minimum assured price before the sowing starts.    Marketing Federation  undertakes price support operartions of various agricultural produce like paddy, pulses and other oil seeds on behalf of the State Government. The procurement is done through a network of Primary Cooperative Societies and the Seva Sahakari Samiti.

Joint Venture Scheme:  Procurement under Joint venture scheme is undertaken with NNAFED or  Private sector Parties. Marketing Federation and NAFED collaborate in the ratio of  50:50  to perform the procurement acitivity while partnernership with Private party is in the proportion of 80 : 20  for conducting the business under this scheme. Markfed generates  margin through commission( 1% - 1.5%)based on turnover and the godown charges.In 2010-11 Markfed procured 5017 Qtl of chana and 120 qtl Urad.

Commercial Purchase:  Markfed also undertakes procurement for commercial trading by own staff in mandies.

• As state govt. agency for wheat and paddy procurement under Price support Scheme(PSS) Markfed procured 15.24 lac MT in the year 2010-11.
•  362 % increase in procurement of wheat in the year 2011 over 2008.
